What’s Doing ~ Friday Recap!

Happy Friday, dear Readers!

We’ve reached the end of another week of this crazy year, and a summer weekend is ahead of us! *sunshine*

With that in mind, I’d like to share a little recap of the reading I’ve gotten up to this past week.

As a little, short “reading” endeavour of the week, I’d like to share one of my favourite quotes that I have ever come across. I haven’t read the book that the lines apparently come from, but I first saw this quote at a very difficult time in my life, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. My recent motto has become “& I drank my tea” just because of the strength I feel that one image from this quote implies.

Wise Words to Live By

In a more robust reading update, I am finally finished with my 30 Days of Books Challenge as today marks day #30! The category for today is the book that I am currently reading, and I actually finished one last night which I am excited to share a review of.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

All hail Queen Sophie Kinsella!

She is without doubt one of my all-time favourite authors. Ever since I first picked up Shopaholic a lifetime ago (seriously, I was in high school!), she has been my go-to rom com writer and total inspiration. Anything she writes, I simply MUST get my hands on.

Somehow, I managed to sleep on My Not So Perfect Life and never got around to buying or reading it, but luckily my BFFL owned it and was happy to lend it to me. (#blessed to have CL in my life!) I could not put this one down (when my 9.5 month old son was sleeping, of course) and I actually risked waking baby Dorian up when I burst out laughing several times while reading it. How does Kinsella do that? Like getting readers to laugh while looking at mere words on a page is a remarkable feat and Kinsella has just MASTERED it. She really is a queen!

Anywhoodles, this book is a bundle of laughs obviously, but the story is also heartwarming and I liked that it focused on the female friendship more than most other Kinsella novels do. Katie and Demeter were the real dynamic duo of the story, but naturally, Alex was a steamy side dish that I thoroughly appreciated as well.

What can I said, Queen Kinsella can do no wrong…and My Not So Perfect Life is oh so right!

So, there you have it…my 30 day initiative is all done…but the reading doesn’t stop here, my friends. Oh no! I’ve got some fun and surprises in store for my next few reading weeks, so stay tuned!
