His Wife

On Friday December 22nd, 2017, I married a man so perfect he’s almost fictional.

Luckily for me, Corynn Fowler was there to document the entire day, to make sure I didn’t forget any one of the fairytale, storybook moments.

I spoke about Corynn’s work when I shared my engagement photos from December 2016. Corynn is the photographer that SS and I selected for our wedding, and she is without question the most incredible photographer I have ever come across. Her Instagram page is totally swoonworthy, her website is full of photos that have actually taken my breath away and brought tears to my eyes, and she is a consummate artist. When I was scouring Pinterest before the wedding, trying to get inspiration, I stumbled upon so many Victorian-style, almost antique, intensely romantic photos and I knew I wanted exactly that sort of feel for my own wedding photos. But never in a million years did I think I would find a photographer like Corynn who so effortlessly captured every single emotion my husband and I were feeling on that day. The photos she took look almost like paintings, and I have never felt more like a queen than when behind Corynn’s lens.

What’s even more wonderful is that Corynn is not only a very talented photographer, she is also an amazing person. She made my husband and me, as well as our family and friends, feel totally at ease on the wedding day. I remember when Corynn walked into my parents’ home just hours before the ceremony and the first thing I asked her was, “How was everything over at the groom’s place?” She knew that I was trying to ask how my soon-to-be husband was, and she indulged every single one of my anxieties on that day, assuring me that everything was great, on schedule and that everyone was on their way to the venue, safe and sound. Corynn is someone who it is so effortlessly easy to get along with, and she is extremely professional, always answering every one of our emails in the most pleasant way and adapting to every one of our requests without hesitation.

I would not hesitate to recommend Corynn as a wedding photographer, and I urge all of you to check out her Instagram, Facebook page and website because everything she produces is so inspiring and heartwarming.

Now, on to the beautiful photos Corynn took on my wedding day. As if Corynn wasn’t a perfect enough person already, I noticed a few weeks ago on her Instagram story that she was reading The Time Traveler’s Wife, one of my favourite novels of all time which was quoted frequently during my wedding. This coincidence gave me the idea to re-read the novel, from my new vantage point as a wife myself, and I began collecting quotes to use in this post to accompany the wedding photos Corynn provided. These quotes all speak to me on an intimate level and seem to me to so accurately represent how it feels to be someone’s wife and to both give and receive unconditional love.

“‘Maybe I’m dreaming you. Maybe you’re dreaming me; maybe we only exist in each other’s dreams and every morning when we wake up we forget all about each other.’”

“…when she looks at me with that kind of attention, I feel that I am everything to her.”

“‘I’ve been waiting for him, my whole life, and now, he’s here.’”

“‘To happiness. To here and now.’ …

‘To world enough and time.’”

“‘I wish we could just stop time now.’”

“Tonight I feel that my love for you has more density in this world than I do, myself…”

“I love you, always. Time is nothing.”
